Basadi Sewing offers professional sewing, mending, and alteration services to individuals and organizations in the Waterloo Region. It also offers sewing classes to the broader public to encourage and inspire the next generation into the art of sewing.

15+ Years of Sewing Experience.

Our Sewing Lead, Mujidat Yusuf-Ajao, brings a wealth of professional sewing and fashion expertise to the Waterloo Region. Before moving to Canada, Mujidat was the Fashion Design Manager and owner of MJ Fashion School in Abuja, Nigeria, where she mentored aspiring designers and fostered creativity. She has also worked as a Fashion Designer at several organizations, specializing in design, pattern-making, and haute couture.

In addition to her extensive fashion experience, Mujidat holds a Bachelor's Degree in English Language and a Post Graduate Diploma in Global Business Management from Conestoga College.

Beginner Level Sewing
$120.00

Beginner Level Sewing classes consist of 4 weeks of classes, once a week. This is perfect for those who are new to sewing on machines.

This level covers foundational skills, including how to set up and operate a sewing machine, basic stitching techniques, and the creation of simple projects. Each class concludes with a hands-on project to help you apply what you’ve learned.

Intermediate Level Sewing
$245.00

Building on the skills from our Beginner Level Sewing (or for those with some sewing experience), this level introduces intermediate techniques such as darts, pleats, and garment construction. Participants will learn to create their own garments from fabric using templates and gain confidence in more advanced sewing applications. We will also learn basic pattern making and designing garments. This class offers the challenge of a multi-week project, allowing you to apply all your sewing knowledge to date and complete a custom creation.

Intermediate Sewing classes consist of 7 weeks of classes, once a week. This is perfect for those who have past experience with sewing who want to hone and develop their skills.

Sew Merry: Christmas Tree Skirt Workshop

Get into the holiday spirit with our Sew Merry: Christmas Tree Skirt Workshop!

In this three hour beginner-friendly class you will learn sewing skills while creating a handmade skirt to dress up your holiday tree. Join us for an afternoon of creativity and connection. No sewing experience needed, light snacks and refreshments are included.

All materials and sewing machines will be provided. If you have fabric or materials you would like to incorporate, feel free to bring them with you!
